first blog anniversary❤ ++ giveaway ++

October 26, 2014
Today is the day: it was exactly one year ago that I published my very first post on LiveLifeStyled! I honestly cannot believe how fast time has passed – it feels like yesterday that I started planning on starting my own fashion blog, it took what felt like an eternity to decide on the name, designs, etc and although the past year had its ups and downs not only concerning my life in general, but also the blog in particular – there were weeks where I just did not seem to find any motivation and/or inspiration for posts – I have to say, I do not regret anything at this time, even better: I love the way it all turned out and enjoy writing, shooting and editing photos and working on the designs so much! Plus, I have to admit,  I am a little proud of what this has become after such a short time and at this point I would really love to thank you guys for all your support, your lovely comments and for contributing so much to this little project of mine!!❤❤❤ This brings me to the giveaway: You can win an Urban Decay Basics 2 palette!! All you have to do is follow me on instagram and repost this picture with the hashtag #livelifestyledgiveaway (you find all the details under the picture). Good luck! 🙂 One more thing (before you head over there): I am beyond excited for what the coming up year has to hold for the blog and would love it if you kept following this story together with me – to even more years here on LiveLiveStyled!! Lots of love and have a great Sunday!

outfit // home is where your heart is

Do you know the hometown phenomenon? There are thousands of things in your city that attract numerous tourists each weekend, month and year to come, see and even envy you for exactly these beautiful places you live so close to. In Hamburg, for instance, one of the most famous attractions is the harbour. Now, I know the harbor – of course, you would say, who could possibly not, living here – but that is exactly the thing: If I am being honest, the number of days I have spent there (like REALLY, seeing it from the underground does not count!) can probably be counted on one hand and I guess there are visitors from across the country that better me here… Anyhow, last weekend was one of those days and it felt a tiny little bit like a vacation day which was exactly what I needed. Plus, I could finally wear my new flats that belong to my sale findings 🙂

detox // result

January 29, 2014
I am beyond happy to be able to announce that today I successfully got my very last exam for this semester over and done with! It felt amazing to just pack away all things related to studying and university and I finally feel like I have got my life back – so much time and so many things on my to do list for the next weeks! This does not only include this blog (I am literally boiling over with ideas), but also a very special trip that is planned for next week…
But let’s start from the beginning: As I told you, I tried out detoxing two weeks ago and I know I promised you a feedback – the five days of my detox cleanse are already more than two weeks away, but since I was in the middle of my exam weeks up until now, I just couldn’t find any free time for blogging – so sorry! But: better late than never, huh?
So, for everyone who doesn’t quite know what detoxing is about, here is the short version: You basically go without animal products (including dairy products of course), salt, sugar and any kind of wheaten-based products for about five days to cleanse your body from toxins. So far, so good. I had a whole bunch of recipes that did sound quite tasty (that’s if you can call a meal without any salt that), mostly based on quinoa and veggies. In the morning I usually had some oatmeal with fruits and chia seeds and/or a smoothie which did not make me miss my usual bread slices at all!
I must admit I had imagined this week to be a lot easier, but in my defense, I got ill on day two which made me feel weak and limp and tired and didn’t quite have a positive impact on my motivation. I guess what I missed most during those days was neither sugar or salt, nor any animal products, but the wheaten-based products – how much I would have given for a plate of spaghetti, or a slice of whole-wheat bread! The thing was that I always felt full, but never completely sated… But, as I said, I cannot clearly distinguish between what the impact of the detox was and how I felt because of my cold.
However, I can definitely say that I did not at all feel any difference or change of my body – bloating’s still there and did not even decrease a little… I lost about 2kg that I have regained by now and that weren’t really visible. Though these 5 days of detox did not completely meet my expectations (also possibly due to my illness) I can say that it affected my way of thinking about food and eating in general: after a week of relinquishing everything your body is used to, one gets a fully new perspective of the value of each meal. I cannot describe in words the feeling that I had the first day after, when I finally was allowed to eat everything I wanted to!
It was a great experience that probably would have been even greater without me having a cold which is why I am totally up for a new try (completely healthy then) in a few months time!
Did you have more luck? I would love to hear about your experiences with detoxing!

challenge // five days of detox

January 13, 2014

Ever since I have read about detoxing for the first time I’ve been wanting to try it! If you are following me on instagram you might have seen my little shopping haul for my first and hopefully not last detox cleanse that I started today. I needed to postpone it several times because of university and birthday invitations, but now I am finally kicking it off – better late than never!

I couldn’t be more motivated and excited as I have read so many positive things about the result. The main goal or reason why I am doing this is to beat the bloating that I have been having for over a year now, but I have to admit that the side effects such as a stronger immune system, skin improvement and the loss of water retention do also sound quite alluring! I do also count this as the start into a healthier and more balanced life as I would like to become even more conscious about what I eat – we’ll see how that’s going to work out! Well, the first day is over and I feel pretty good aside from the fact that I caught a cold yesterday – the timing could just not be better! Looking forward to the next days – I’ll keep you posted!

If you are interested in clean eating or detox I can only recommend ourcleanjourney.de to you, that’s where I got all the recipes from – they do not only have quite an inspiring instafeed, but also their own youtube channel.

Have you detoxed before? What are your experiences?
